Youth Exchange at CEMU School of Democracy

This is a collaborative project involving a group of young residents in CiudadEscuela Muchachos (CEMU) and external girls and boys from our organization (10 in total), members of the Municipal Corporation and the Communication Team, who will act as hosts and companions of the participants of the group or groups of young people (10 in total) from organization-partners of CEMU (see our profile in OTLAS).
The main activity of this project will be a visit to coexist in CEMU for a week. In those days, the visiting boys and girls (10) will participate in the activities of the “Citizen Game” and workshops of various themes. In particular, they will be able to collaborate in the production work that will be carried out by the CEMU Communication Team on this Erasmus+ project during this week of coexistence. They will be able to prepare their own reports to broadcast in their native language through CEMU´s digital media platforms and those of their own organization.
The subsequent dissemination of videos and other information materials in Spanish and other languages through the social networks of the CiudadEscuela would allow many others from several countries to know about this coexistence program and request new visits in the near future. Since 1970, the CiudadEscuela Magazine has been published and, since the 1980s, Antena CEMU Radio has been operating as a media training center for children and youth. In 2015, the YouTube channel of CEMU RTV Digital was opened.
During the months prior to the visit, the youth working on this project will connect online to get to know one another, as well as to learn about their respective organizations, countries, and cultures. All the participants from the partner organizations will also develop a potential itinerary for the visit in Madrid. During this time, small reports and projects would be exchanged for public digital dissemination in both countries in order to publicize the opportunities offered by Erasmus+, as well as the activities carried out by both organizations in their respective countries and, above all, to show the culture from each participating country. Finally, CEMU wishes to spread to the rest of Europe its methodology of education in freedom that is rooted in the democratic practice that urges youth to become nurturing, responsible, independent, and committed citizens, with the ultimate goal of enacting meaningful social change and promoting solidarity.
