The Global Organization for Development is a non-governmental organization established on February 11, 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Before the official registration G.O.D. implement a lot of initiatives such as:
➢ Public lecture of Mr. Boyko Borisov- 2007- mayor of Sofia, 3 terms Prime minister of Republic of Bulgaria;
➢ series of lectures on leadership training- 2006 – 2008;
➢ many debates on important issues related to youth and its development.
Main aims of the organization are youth empowerment and development of civil society. Some of the initiatives of the NGO include the following:
➢ National campaign “Youth Vote”- initiative of AEGEE (Association des Etats Gеnеraux des Etudiants de l’Europe), which was further developed in Bulgaria. The campaign contributed to increased youth turnout during the elections for Bulgarian and European Parliament;
➢ Workshops on improving social skills of youngsters with fewer opportunities in remote areas for better career opportunities;
➢ G.O.D. supported and participated in Choice Box- an initiative of the information strategy of the European parliament;
➢ G.O.D. was one of the initiators and co-organizers of the Global Anti-AIDS campaign in Sofia, which raised funds for people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa;
➢ An original project - “Let’s Return to Bulgarian Traditions”- financed by the Sofia Municipal Council;
➢ Students and Security-First student inter-university conference in the security area in Bulgaria.
➢ Public lectures of Ambassadors (of the U.S.A., of Japan, of Germany), Foreign Service Representatives, Drug Enforcement Administration Retired Agent (DEA) (USA) and Brigadier General Commander of 68th Special Forces Brigade (Bulgaria), currently Major General and Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command;
➢ First International Creative Leadership Academy (August 2015)- Key lecturer was professor Frank Prochaska, US President Award Holder, funded by G.O.D.
➢ Friedman Legacy Day 2016- G.O.D. had the honor to organize in Bulgaria the Friedman Legacy Day 2016 with the support of the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice (USA). Friedman Legacy Day 2016 was celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world. Milton Friedman is a Nobel Prize holder (1976) and he served as a trusted advisor to U.S. Presidents and countless other leaders and influential figures.
➢ 2 Tolerance campaigns (2016)- The first one raised awareness and tolerance for the refugees and asylum seekers in Bulgaria. The second campaign was focused on encouraging more women to play football in Bulgaria. Both campaigns were co-funded by Fare network.
➢ 4 campaigns for tolerance and equality about LGBTQI and against homophobia. All the projects also encouraged LGBTQI to play football (2017, 2019 /2 projects/ and 2020) co-funded by the Fare network.
➢ Our team has supported a variety of initiatives (sport, ecological, cultural and entrepreneurship-related ones) with volunteers.
Since 2019 G.O.D. and G.O.D. team assists and volunteer to the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta (also known as Sovereign Order of Malta) during the Covid-19 pandemic.
G.O.D. has a Facebook group (https://web.facebook.com/groups/817935094934401/) with more than 24 847 young people in it. The group aims to inform young people from all around the world about opportunities for their development, such as scholarships, university programs, internships, grant calls, Erasmus projects etc.
G.O.D. administer few groups and pages with more than 330 000 members and subscribers in social media from more than 110 countries.
Since 2017 G.O.D. is accredited Eurodesk Multiplier in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Up to now we have partnered in 113 approved Erasmus + projects for 4 years and we coordinated and implemented 3 Eurodesk co-funded projects in 2017, 2018 and 2019. They have been:
● Erasmus + for every one (2017)- promotion and research about Erasmus + programme;
● Time to move for every one (2018)- aiming to check the awareness and raise awareness about the campaign Time to Move, the program "Erasmus +" and Eurodesk;
● I vote (2019)- Campaign aiming to check and raise awareness and increase the turnout for the elections for EU parliament in 2019.
Since 2013 G.O.D. has been a Member of the Community Advisory Board to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Bulgaria.
Since 2019 G.O.D. is a Member of the Community Advisory Board to the Minister of Youth and Sports in the Republic of Bulgaria.
By order of the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Bulgaria from 18.01.2022 G.O.D. is member of the National Working Group for Youth Work. Representatives of G.O.D. in the National Working Group for Youth Work are Mr. Georgi Michev and Mrs. Tsetska Tsvetanova.
For our active role in the youth sector in Bulgaria G.O.D. was awarded with plaque by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Bulgaria in the category Volunteer organization in the national competition Mission Volunteer (Im)Possible in 2021, organized by the Ministry.
We have a pool of leading experts in the area of youth, sport, high school, university and adult education, vocational education and training academic institutions, think tanks and municipalities in Bulgaria and abroad with whom we are working and will continue to work for the future. In need, we can rely on our experts.
