Zenith Afrique organize a number of different projects which volunteers can get involved with.
Zenith Afrique is a Togolese non profit organization that aims to promote socio-economic and cultural development. The organization is based in Amouzou Kondji, which is located about 100km north of Togo's capital, Lomé.
Zenith Afrique organize a number of different projects which volunteers can get involved with. There is also the possibility for volunteers to suggest their own project.
Volunteer Projects include:
- Participating in awareness raising campaigns and conferences for HIV-AIDS, malaria and cancer
- agriculture(assisting farmers)
- Teaching at local primary and secondary schools
- Assisting disadvantaged children
- Participating in education sessions with children related to health, hygiene and the environment
- Assisting in a children's orphanage
- Participating in youth work, playful animation and workshops
- Participating in ecotourism ( patrimonial projects)
These projects aim not only to raise awareness on important issues, but also to enliven the socio-cultural life of the local population. Volunteers will have the opportunity to integrate into the community and participate in intercultural exchange. Additionally, Zenith Afrique will organize trips and events that will allow volunteers to visit different areas in Togo and learn about traditional food, dance and music.
Projects for Summer 2013:
Zenith Afrique are acurrently running projects in Summer 2013, focused on School Support, recreational activities with children, and an outreach programme within the local community, focused on breast cancer, HIV/AIDS and Malaria. These projects are running from 8th - 29th August 2013.
Dates and Accommodation
Dates and durations are flexible and vary depending on the project, volunteers can enquire for further information on dates. In general, volunteers stay in a house that is provided by Zenith Afrique, but there is also the possibility to arrange accommodation with a local host family.
Costs
The participation fee for each month of the stay is €170. This includes all accommodation and food. A further one off fee of €145 will be charged as a contribution for the project for the duration of the entire stay. A project for three months, for example, will therefore amount to a cost of €655.
Who can participate?
Volunteers should be motivated and have an open mind, and also have an interest in one of the project areas. A basic level of French is desirable, but not a requirement.
To apply, please send a CV and a letter of motivation explaining your interest in the region and specifying your desired project dates, as well as your specific area of interest. You may also submit your application in French.
