The wealth of the European mediterranean forest

We are looking for 5 partners, who work with youth, to form a group of 48 young adults from six European countries. Eight participants per country, including Spain.

The project is laid-out for young people between the age of 18 to 27 years, who are interested in the protection of the environment and its values. !!

We want to achieve two main aims. First we want to get to know how plants in each country were used for medical and nutritional purpose. For this we will talk with natives of La Alpujarra (National Park of Sierra Nevada), who are experts in
the traditional use of the Mediterranean vegetation. With this knowledge we want to realize workshops about cooking, medical prescriptions, harvesting, drying and transformation of the natural food of the area. !

The second aim is reflecting on the importance and the need of environmental protecting and maintenance to achieve equilibration of our ecosystem. Therefore we will work with reflection dynamics, sensitization, roll plays and audiovisual
workshops.

A big part of the exchange will take place in the environmental education centre of the national park of Sierra Nevada. The centre is located within a protected mediterranean forest, which is candidate for UNESCO reserve. The youth will have the opportunity to immerge in a unique natural environment of the Sierra Nevada. !!!

Everything is based on an active, playful and participative methodology. Though cooperative games the two cultures will get to know each other and the participants will converge. Giving special importance to the involvement of young people in the development of each culture recipes. In addition we want to contemplate the cross-cultural exchange experience in other areas such as gastronomy and
coeducation.
