“The SHAPE breakers"

The project “The SHAPE breakers” we can achieve in the creation of values based on tolerance and also we can decrease the level of prejudices of among youth.

Youth are the most important group of people who can contribute to a peaceful society. Linked with their important role to the society, youth should develop empathy among the others and also accept diversity and different types of people.

The evidence consistently indicates that unhealthy body image is associated with obesity and physical inactivity and plays a pivotal role in the development of eating disorders during adolescence. Importantly, body image has “developmental significance” such that it is not a static, personal characteristic, but rather a dynamic aspect of ourselves that changes over the lifespan. Adolescence represents a critical period for healthy body image development due to the type and magnitude of age-related transitions occurring during this time.

The participants will also, explore and get additional knowledge related to these subjects:
1) Body image issues such as; depression, anxiety, and anger; 2) Self-empowerment methods; 3) Peer to peer empowerment techniques; 4) Self-Efficacy and Self-Esteem; 5) Dealing With Difficult Emotions; 6) Weight status and body image; 7) empowering marginalized groups through youth involvement or young people who have created or implemented a plan related to body issues and self-empowerment of young people.

More to the point through interactive activities, they will have the ability to raise their self-confidence. The main result of “The SHAPE breakers” project, will be a well-prepared group of young people from various countries which will learn how to cope with body image issues and also how to actively involve in their countries to increase the self-empowerment of the youngsters in their communities.
