The Back Yard

The Back Yard project is the initiative of 10 young people from different backgrounds and with interest that ranged from performance, to design, creative writing, administration and project management. The idea grew out the lack of opportunities for them to express themselves creatively and to be able to sustain themselves economically.

They are now seeking partners who have been faced with similar circumstances and took or are about to take the initiative to change their circumstances.

The project therefore is designed to share the groups' experience of taking an initiative from concept to conclusion and to learn from others how they have approached the issue youth unemployment and economic inactivity.

The Back Yard is a multi-artform centre that will be a home for live theatre and music, exhibitions, fashion shows and lively discussion and social action.

The aim in seeking partnerships is to open a cross cultural dialogue with other young people. To establish a creative network across different cultures and to be a host for exchange visits for creative young people across the world.
