SCIENCIVICUS - Active Citizenship Through Science Education

Our project aims to help young people achieve a citizenry capable of informed self-government by cultivating civic engagement and a scientific mindset.

We believe that a healthy civic life can't be achieved without the vital role of science as the main tool for critical thinking.
Through our project we aim to help youth become more powerful citizens by equipping them with knowledge and skills that enable them to acknowledge their rights and responsibilities, also to make sense of the world and complex community problems more like scientists.

Objectives:
1. Raise the level of awareness on the relationship between science, democracy and human rights, as well as on the scientific progress as a human right;
2. Inform the participants about the imperative of fighting pseudo-science and twisted scientific norms in the public space, also about the tools and strategies for this purpose. Equally, help them strengthen their abilities to distinguish between facts and nonsense.
3. Develop critical thinking skills through science-citizen activities held in collaboration with scientists;
4. Raise the level of awareness on the importance of adopting evidence-based public solutions and policies.

Our target group are young people between 18 and 30 years old.
