Responsible and ethical use of Artificial intelligence

This REUSEAI project aligns with the Erasmus+ Youth Workers Mobility by fostering cross-border collaboration between youth workers and organizations.

The REUSEAI project`s objectives are therefore;

1) Empowering youth workers with knowledge since AI is becoming a part of everyday life, from social media algorithms to smart assistants. Teaching youth workers how AI works helps demystify the technology and reduce fear of the unknown and capacitates them for onward dissemination to their youths in their communities and projects. It also enables .critical Thinking since youth workers can learn to critically assess the impact of AI on their personal lives, communities and careers, fostering informed and responsible decision-making.

2) Promoting ethical awareness- AI systems often reflect the biases of their creators and educating youth workers about these biases encourages them to demand and design fairer systems.
The youth workers also need awareness on privacy concerns related to 3rd party data sharing and GDPR regulations since youth workers also handle personal data in their youth projects. The youth workers need to understand how AI collects and uses their data, promoting a culture of digital responsibility.
The youth workers will also be capacitated on the dangers of relying on AI in decision making without human input since this can lead to exclusion of minority groups: This will ensure that the use of AI does not perpetuate systemic discrimination based on gender, race or socioeconomic background.

3) Enhancing employability and innovation- AI is bringing new opportunities for creativity and innovation by transforming industries and therefore knowing its ethical implications can help youth workers navigate and thrive in AI-driven job markets.Youth workers can become innovators in using AI for social good, addressing issues like climate change, education access and public health.

4) AI is a tool often used to spread fake news. The REUSEAI project will educate youth workers on how to identify and counteract misinformation thereby protecting democratic values in line with EU youth goal 4 of Information & constructive dialogue which ensures that young people have better access to reliable information, support their ability to evaluate information critically and engage in participatory and constructive dialogue
