RE-CINE: Rehabilitation & Green Cinema for Migrant Women

Project Summary:
This project aims to support the rehabilitation of migrant women who have experienced traumatic experiences such as war and disaster through cinema and art, and to strengthen their participation in social and economic life. At the same time, it encourages environmentally friendly production processes by adopting the principles of green filmmaking in line with the principles of sustainability. At the same time, the project aims to encourage migrant women to take an active role in the sector by providing them with theoretical and technical skills in the field of cinema.

Within the 24-month project, a workshop will be organised in Germany to deepen the needs analysis, cinema training will be provided through a 90-hour online masterclass programme, film analysis sessions will be held and an international short film competition will be organised. Migrant women who will receive training in areas such as script writing, camera and equipment use, editing and production will meet with experts and have access to mentoring, cooperation and employment opportunities in the sector. At the same time, during the project, topics such as sustainable production methods, energy saving, recycling, zero waste practices within the scope of green filmmaking principles will be integrated into the training programme.

The short films they produce will be screened on national and international platforms, making the stories of migrants visible. By using the transformative power of art, this project will enable migrant women to express themselves, gain self-confidence and gain a place in the cinema sector, while contributing to gender equality and raising awareness on migration.
