PiEceS

Project “PiEceS” is a youth exchange, which aims to explore and build up the capacity of young people with fewer opportunities through art

Project “PiEceS” is a youth exchange, which aims to explore and build up the capacity of young people with fewer opportunities through art. During 11 days 30 participants with fewer opportunities, will implement the activities in order to achieve planned objectives using different non-formal methods (role playing, discussions, working groups etc).
Participants will get a chance to get to know each other and their culture and express them using various forms of art (photo, video, theatre, dance and drawing). Art will be used in a framework of social inclusion so the organizer will provide basic knowledge about this topic, as well as the practical skills of how to produce different artistic forms. Participant will be divided in groups of interests which each group will develop one piece of their common vision of society, making a puzzle, using the above mentioned forms of art. As a final product, participants will have final performances presenting the artistic result of common vision based on social inclusion which will include local community.
The project aims at exploring and building up the capacity of the young people with fewer opportunities through providing them the opportunity to express themselves using various forms of art.
The objectives of the project are the following:
- To raise awareness of young people about various opportunities for building up their capacity.
- To promote art as a tool for building up the capacity of young people.
- To promote intercultural learning and cultural diversity using creative ways of expression.
The project will bring together young people from 6 different European countries. Through the project the participants will have the chance to present their culture and backgrounds among their peers from all around Europe. The participants will have the possibility to exchange information on different aspects of their life (culture, feelings, and emotions) and to achieve several common goals through group expression using different forms of art as a main tool.
The target group of the project is young people with fewer opportunities from less developed regions from participating countries and suburbs of big cities. Their participation in the project will help them increase their self-esteems and learn how to express their potential in their local community.
Working methods:
- Workshops – throughout the implementation of the activity different workshops will be organized in order to provide the youngsters with technical information on the different forms of art that will be used and to provide them space to work and develop their piece of the common vision of the society based on social inclusion.
- Energizers – to start the different sessions and to help them relax in order to be focused and fully involved in the working process.
- Ice-breakers – To help the participants to get to know each other
- Role playing – to provide the participants the opportunity to see certain problem or issue from different prospective.
- Discussions – During the discussions the participants will have the chance to share their emotions, their feelings, opinions and ideas on a certain topics.
- Working groups – the participants will be divided in small working groups which will work for the implementation of a concrete task.
- Mind showering – a tool for promoting the active involvement of the participants based on their backgrounds and understanding.
- Presentation – this method will be used to give the participant any relevant information related to their work during the exchange.
- ‘’Collecting the PiEceS’’ – This method was developed by the project team and it is aimed at giving the participants the chance to build their common vision of the society using the 5 forms of art. During the project activities each one of the five groups will have to build their vision of the society expressed through one form of art experienced during the workshops. That vision will be a piece of the puzzle, and at the final of the project they will have to present their artistic result during one final performance.
- Practice makes perfect –represent the moment when the participants, divided in their groups, perfect their own common vision of the world, a world in which exists social inclusion and the cultural barriers are broken; they perfect this little piece of the big puzzle that, in the final day will be represented on the stage.
During the programme of activites we include various workshops and working sessions covering:
-Getting to know each other’s and teambuilding activities;
