OUR ROOTS

Youth Exchange on the discovery of Cultural heritage and preservation of European multiculturalism

The project OUR ROOTS is conceived with the aim of promoting the discovery and understanding of the traditions of each country in order to safeguard the diversity and multiculturalism that characterize the European Union.
This topic is outlined in coherence with the mission of the Social Cooperative Mnemosine to counter the depopulation of the villages in Abruzzo’s hinterland (Region of Central Italy), by spreading art in the territory, enhancing its cultural richness and traditions, and finally, supporting social cohesion and intercultural
dialogue.
The Social Cooperative Mnemosine has chosen to organize the project OUR ROOTS in a delocalized area of the Abruzzo’s hinterland, in order to encourage intercultural dialogue with inland
communities that still retain a strong cultural identity and whose traditions are part of their daily life.
Main activities during the Exchange:
- Laboratories to introduce and discover traditions (mainly focused on Traditional Dances).
- Visits to typical inland villages and natural attractions to discover the territory.
- Indoor and outdoor non-formal education activities, also able to directly involve the hosting communities.
- Intercultural presentations and dinners.
