Mobb@work

Mobbing and awareness project in public institutions and all non-governmental organisations

Psychological violence in the workplace (mobbing) can be defined as harmful behaviours and pressures applied to the victim. It is a phenomenon that has started to be analysed in many countries, especially in European countries, since the 1980s. Mobbing is an English word and was first used in the workplace by the Swedish labour psychologist Heinz Leymann in the early 1980s and was defined as a form of psychological terror in the form of continuous, exclusionary actions carried out by a person or persons against another person. This project aims to improve psychological health in the workplace at both individual and societal levels, raise awareness and create a healthier environment among employees.
There may be many reasons behind the behaviour of people who commit acts of violence and psychological violence. Human beings are social beings and their behaviours are shaped according to the society they live in and belong to. The socialisation of human beings is their integration with the family, group, social segment and society in which they live, their adoption of common behavioural patterns and their adaptation to the society. Sociological researches show that in many social groups, high levels of violence are accepted as normal within the natural structure of life. In today's working conditions, most of the employees spend most of the day at their workplaces. Therefore, social relations in the work environment have an important place in the lives of employees. Employees and organisations coexist to the extent that they can meet each other's needs. Organisations should meet the economic, personal and social needs of human resources. Organisations that cannot meet these needs cannot be effective. The quality of relations between employees, their communication with their managers and the climate of the organisation affect their performance in the organisation..
- To provide a broader perspective on the problems experienced by disadvantaged groups in their working lives by providing awareness and coping skills on mobbing to youth personnel,
- Focusing on the represented contribution for disadvantaged working young people and youth staff, training and awareness raising on mobbing will be provided, so that they can be informed on how to cope with personal, social, economic difficulties and how to participate more actively in working life.
