With this project we want participants to meet with the process of mediation as a way of conflict resolution among children and youth.
The purpose of this project is for participants to see how much the negative trend of violence increased among children and young people and that it requires new and more modern methods of resolving conflicts and conflict situations. Mediation provides mediatior experience among children and young people without the help of teachers. Participants will learn phases of mediation and its processes, become a good mediators, improve communication skills for developing piece building strategies, improve techniques and procedures of conflict resolution, promote positive attitude and gather essential negotiation skill.
Goal of the project is to reduce violence among children and youth by increasing the competencies and skills related to mediation.
Project objectives:
1. To make participants see the problem of violence among children and youth
2. Present to participants issues of stereotypes and prejudices among children and youth
3. Teach participants what is mediation, why is it important, how to implement it and how to become a mediator
4. To enable participants to become mediators, conduct the mediation and to improve communication and negotiation skills
5. Encourage participants to set up a team of mediators on their local areas
6. Promoting multiculturalism through teamwork with participants from other countries
During the process we will work on solving these problems through next activities: Lectures, presentations, workshops and energizers, teamwork, debates, making of short promotional video and intercultural learning activities.
Long-term outcome of this project is to provide an opportunity for all participants to develop their competences, learn how to maximize their potential, gain experience to work in the field of mediation as a mediator, improve personal skills, gain a sense of responsibility and to be creative and innovative in future work. They will discover and explore the similarities and differences between their cultures.
