MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE PROJECT

The project aims to preserve, protect and conserve the wildlife in the maasai mara, learn about the maasai cultural practices and youth work around culture.

Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern, central and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are among the best known local populations due to their residence near the many game parks of the African Great Lakes, and their distinctive customs and dress.

Maasai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. Its animals include lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras and hippos. Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people.

The project aims to enhance cultural integration, wildlife protection, preservation and conservation as well as environmental conservation.
