KA152 Youth Exchange: A value to be cherished: Cultural Heritage
The European Year of Cultural Heritage focuses on the evolution of the concept of cultural heritage, its role and place in society, as well as the way it is perceived and interpreted in the context of relevant European Union prerogatives. The 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage is the result of this evolution, enabling European societies to broadly understand their cultural heritage in all its aspects, democratically share responsibility for it, celebrate it and benefit from the creativity it inspires. Governments, policymakers and young people themselves are interested in helping young people to become aware of cultural heritage and to acquire skills to protect it. The European Union has emphasised the role of education as well as the need for cooperation between EU member and candidate countries to ensure that children and young people acquire social, civic and intercultural competencies by encouraging them to protect tangible and intangible cultural heritage. One of the prominent programmes in this context is the Erasmus+ programme. Using the Erasmus+ programme as a tool enables the importance of cultural heritage in European societies and the protection of the common European cultural heritage. In this context, young people need to understand the importance of cultural heritage and develop themselves to protect cultural heritage.
