ESC WHAT? SLOVAKIA

The ESC volunteers taking part in the project will help with cleaning a part of the channel surroundings and a part of the City Park Lanice. They will also prepare and create natural land art installations in “water-river-city” theme. Before that they will cut and clean the surroundings of naturally valuable water body – the last part of original river basin of the river Hron in Zvolen. By this they will draw the attention to this important part of history of Zvolen and better the state of public spaces serving the community. The participants will also get familiar with measures for reserving rain water which are implemented in Zvolen (almost 50 rain gardens, green roofs, lakes etc.).
We will also visit the city of Košice (the second biggest town of Slovakia) which is 200 kilometres far from Zvolen. Here we will go through a couple of meetings with local people, which will be in the same topic as the activities in Zvolen – rain water management as a measure for bringing water back to the city.
