Digital information literacy for low-qualified people

This project aims at empowering the ‘digital literacy’ needs of low-qualified adults.

Digital technologies have dramatically transformed contemporary life.
Just as basic literacy, the ability to search, read, and assimilate information available on the internet is an essential ability for the individual’s development today.
It is more and more required that people have knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to handle digital information and automated procedures as well as online facilities and services.
This project aims at empowering the ‘digital literacy’ needs of low-qualified adults. We intend “digital literacy” as the ability to harness online knowledge in order to meet information useful to satisfy personal and professional issues.
Our project will realize and innovative training program to provide low-skilled adults with the basic digital literacy competence. We will adopt a blended learning approach that combines face-to-face modules and online learning. We will integrate the flexibility of social learning with the better involvement of learners of collaborative learning.
Accordingly, our program minimizes the problem of creating homogeneous adult learners training classes and facilitate the learners’ social support as well as the reinforcement of their self-esteem.
Our program includes basic technical skills, such as the ability to operate a computer and perform tasks such as word processing, form-filling, searching, e-banking, and use of online services. Furthermore, it will provide learners with the knowledge of how the Internet works and the practices which can help to stay safe online. We will train learners to use technology creatively, e.g. to use blogs, wikis and handle multimedia objects available on the internet.
Our project will:
• Meet the needs of low-qualified adults
• Reduce their risk of exclusion
• Implement an effective inclusive learning model
• Strengthen the partnership between organizations engaged in adult education
• Adopt an innovative transnational approach based on the collaboration of adult education organizations, teachers, trainers and the adult learners

Project Objectives
• Identify the basic digital literacy needs of low-qualified learners
• Develop an innovative educational model based on the integration of social learning with collaborative learning
• Produce an open and customizable online training program
