Digital Citizenship

The project ‘Digital Citizenship’ aims to promote young people's active digital citizenship in general, to educate youngsters about appropriate technology use.

The project ‘Digital Citizenship’ will take place in Tallinn, Estonia in March 2014. It aims to promote young people's active digital citizenship in general, to educate youngsters about the issues of appropriate technology use. Participants learn how to support safe online behavior and how to become active European digital citizens.

This project involves youngsters from different European countries. Main objectives of this youth exchange are:
• To clarify the concept of digital citizenship among participants
• To strengthen digital involvement of youngsters
• To teach how to use information and communications technologies and strategies by 'democratic sectors' within the political processes of local communities, states/regions, nations and on the global stage
• To learn how to utilize valuable online resource to expand the knowledge of the European Union and to keep abreast of the latest developments
• To promote and disseminate the values and objectives of the European Union online
• To involve participants closely in reflection and discussion on the construction of the European Union.

Activities include participation in local outdoor activities (interviewing local people about what they know about digital security and how they protect themselves, meeting with local authorities, interviewing local people about electronic ticketing system in public transport, etc.), presentations, brainstorming, role plays, games, discussions, team works.

The participants will work in different groups where they will have various tasks and responsibilities. This approach will ensure diversity and will give everyone the opportunity to work closely with youngsters from different countries. The whole project is based on active participation and obtaining knowledge, active in non-formal learning manner.

Partners: Estonia + 4 organizations based in Programme countries

Teams: 9 young people + 1 group leader per partner; please try to ensure gender balance

Profile of the participants: young people aged 18-30, interested in internet and active citizenship;
