Young people will talk about flight and integration in the past and today. They will be involved in the development of Danmarks Flygtninge Museum in Oksbøl.
From 1945-1945 the biggest German refugee camp was located in Oksbøl in South-West-Denmark. Today, a museum about flight is coming into existence. At this place where traces of the past are still present, we want to gather young people from Denmark and Germany and a third country to let them discover the topic that is so present in our every-day life since 2015.
Why do people have to flee a country? Why did they have to flee in the past and why today? Which obstacles do they have to deal with - on the way and when they have arrived? What is necessary concerning integration? What does policy do about it - in different countries an in EU?
As well, the young people shall play an active part in the development of the museum in Oksbøl. What should be shown there from their point of view? How would they convey aspects of the topic to people of their age or to adults?
We would like to put up this project together with a youth organisation from Denmark in order to bring together young people from Denmark, Germany and a third country. Young refugees are welcome to participate.
We want to let the young people discover the connection between the past and today. Informal learning and interactive methods will help them to discover the complex themselves. As well, the young people shall get to know each other and their cultures and languages, spend their free-time together and discover the area with several activities.
We thought of a teenage group from 14-16 years with 8 participants per country, but are open for further development of the specific character together with a partner.
Varde Museum who is responsible for the museum in Oksbøl will also act as a cooperation partner.
Don't hesitate to ask if you need further information! We are looking forward to receiving your response!
