„Avoid the hate” is an Erasmus+ youth exchange on the topic migration issue.
„Avoid the hate” is an Erasmus+ youth exchange on the topic migration issue. The implementation of this project has two main goals: first of all, raising aware¬ness about the topic of the refugees crisis and try to understand more deeply the prob¬lem. Secondly, we want to improve a more critical way of thinking among the young participants, to let them understand the importance of looking for reliable sources of in¬formation. Through the activities that we will implement, we want to focus on the topic of the refugee crisis and use it as a tool to look at our society and our choices in Europe, not only to raise awareness but also empathy in our society. Also, we want to support the international mobility projects and make them known to the local society. This op¬portunity is a chance for the people of Drobeta to observe the multicultural beauty and for the young people to get more information about these mobility opportunities that will help them to get in touch with the intercultural spirit and mature with the help of it.
We strongly believe in the Erasmus+ values, and we want to share this belief with the participants, in order to make them understand the importance of human respect and inclusion inside the society. We would also like to contribute in creating a more open and welcoming society, starting from this project, as we see the group of a Youth Exchange as a small community where we can recreate different situations from real life, and starting from this point of view we want to try to understand what it can be like to face difficult problems in our lives, as the migrant have to do every day. We strongly believe that discussing these topics with young people coming from different European Countries will help us enlarge our views around the issue, and getting to know asylum seekers and experts working in this field will let the participants see with their own eyes all the difficulties that these people have to face, and we hope that this activity will raise their awareness and respect.
In concrete, main objectives of the project are:
- To facilitate learning process for 20 young people about problems that young refu-gees are facing nowadays through a 7 days activity programme.
-To improve knowledge, skills on intercultural learning, diversity, and EU values for 20 young people aged 18-25 from 4 different countries;
-To improve skills for 20 young people aged 18-25 in encouraging intercultural dia-logue and building mutual understanding between new arrivals and the receiving com-munities;
-To raise awareness of 800 young people living in 4 countries on contemporary problems and challenges related to migration through dissemination activities during one month after the YE finishes;
IMPACT:
On a personal level, young people will learn new information and skills, make new friends, and, more importantly, build friendships with people from other countries that can lead to new meetings and activities. The 20 participants will have an intercultural experience through which their talents will be improved, they will get to know others' points of view, they will also become more open to learning and understanding other cultures.
Participants will be positively impacted by the rich learning experience both in terms of their awareness and sensitization on
migrants and refugees and human rights more generally, but also due to the intercultural framework that allows them to
meet and explore new cultures. Participants will cultivate an array of skills interlinked with human rights education and nonformal
learning such as cooperative group work, organizational and digital tools skills, creativity and self-confidence which
will be also enhanced by the solidarity, learner-centred activities. The development of attitudes necessary for a human rights culture lie at the heart of any human rights education activity.
The participants will understand the basics of human rights in the basis of refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in order to be able to combat with hate speech or discrimination against these marginalized groups in their own local communities.
They will learn how to be tolerant, supportive, more understanding and open-minded when the topic is about different cultures or backgrounds. Participants will better comprehend the process of seeking European asylum, the road from the nation of origin to secure nations, the method of integration once acknowledged as a refugee in Europe, and the difficulties encountered by the route of inclusion. We expect all participants will be more aware about migrant's issues, open-minded and tolerant about others culture and religion.
