"A peace of art"

Art project around war and peace, democracy, tolerance and European citizenship.

Our international youth exchange 'a peace of art' takes place at the House Accros Borders in Lommel, Belgium, next to the biggest German war grave cemetery in Western Europe.
From the 3st untill 16th of August young people from 5 different European countries (each 6 participants) will meet in Lommel and will get to know each others cultures and habits.
The big cemetery is the example of things that were destroyed by hand, and during the meeting the participants will learn to create something beautifull by hand. Using art, the yougsters will change the place of destruction into a place of friendship. Art forms the youngsters wil get to know, during the exchange will be visual arts, word art and dance art. At the end of the exchange a special event will be organised, where the youngsters will get a stage to show their work at the local community of Lommel. A part of the work will also be taking home to the participating countries, and will be shown in their local communities.
The aim of this encounters is to foster European understanding and reinforce awareness of democracy, by working with historical facts and experience other European cultures.
