Youthwavers

Youthwavers is an informal youth group founded in 2024 during an international Training Course, based in Thessaloniki, expanding its volunteer network to Drama, Larissa, Athens and other cities in Greece. Founded by two university students with extensive volunteering background and experience in youth work, with the aim of creating an active volunteer network of young people between 15-30 years old involved both in local community and international projects and support participants to empower themselves.

The youth group's primary focus is promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and human rights equality within society. Our efforts address a variety of human centered and social issues, such as combating hate speech, promoting European integration, supporting sustainability initiatives, safeguarding human rights, addressing gender issues and supporting the youth to develop their skills and recognise the importance of empowerment.
Hate speech poses a significant threat to societal cohesion and individual well-being, requiring strong measures to counter its proliferation and protect vulnerable communities. European integration efforts strive to foster unity and collaboration among diverse nations, promoting shared values, digital empowerment, and peaceful coexistence. Promoting sustainability is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring a prosperous future for all by addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and inequality. Upholding human rights is fundamental to ensuring dignity, equality, and justice for all individuals, necessitating continuous advocacy and legal protections to address violations and promote an equitable society.

The primary goals of Youthwavers are: (RADES)
-Raise environmental awareness and promote sustainability.
-Advocate for social and human rights initiatives.
-Address human-centric issues such as combating hate speech.
-Address key areas of SDG’s and UN Youth Goals.
-Defend European values and identities.
-Develop social and human capital for gender equality and social cohesion.
-Encourage youth participation in society and foster proactive engagement.
-Empower young people through non-formal education methodologies and digital means.
-Support initiatives, whether Regional or European, that foster local, national and international cooperation.
Youthwavers are dedicated to provide inclusive social services to improve the quality of life and ensure social security for various groups, including youth, marginalized and the LGBTQI+ community. We prioritize promoting European values, environmental objectives, and active citizenship, where through non-formal education methods, we empower young individuals, encourage sustainable environmental behaviors, and advocate for youth participation in societal matters.
