Women's Initiative of Novi Sad

The Women's Initiative of Novi Sad was established for the first time in May 2010 as an informal group made up of students who were socially active at the time and worked through various youth, civic and student organizations, as well as through student and youth representative bodies. The founders and members gathered within the framework of the National Theater Institute in order to initiate and actively participate in the cultural, social, civic and political transformation of the Serbian society as a whole.

The Women's Initiative of Novi Sad is formally legally constituted in 2014 as a citizen's association, in accordance with valid positive law in the competent Agency.

Also, fully accepting the European commitment that a modern, democratic and prosperous society is free from any kind of discrimination, the Women's Initiative of Novi Sad has an extremely high importance to giving gender equality, through initiatives for institutionally strengthening gender equality mechanisms, educational programs, promoting the concept of gender equality and equal opportunity policies , but also through concrete actions that contribute to eliminating violence against women, creating conditions for employment and self-employment of women. The ultimate goal of such activities is to not consider the issue of gender equality in a few years as an obligation, but that it becomes a standard and value that is implied.

The Goals:

✅ Ensuring the exercise of the right to equal opportunities for all women in society, in particular women living in harsh conditions and particularly vulnerable women
✅ Improving the living conditions of vulnerable social groups
✅ Encouraging and evaluating the exceptional manifestations and achievements of women and children in different areas
✅ Improving opportunities for quality leisure time for women and children
✅ Preservation of traditional values, old crafts, homemade craftsmanship and hand crafts
✅ Developing, promoting, encouraging and stimulating employment of women, self-employment of women and women's entrepreneurship
✅ Improving conditions for the safe life of women and children
✅ Preservation and promotion of the health of women and children, reduction of risks and leading health disorders and development of health care tailored to women and children
✅ Empowering women for initiatives and activities that are in line with the basic goals of sustainable development and a healthy environment
✅ Advocacy for the protection of basic rights and freedoms in order to improve the standard of living and quality of life
