URIHO

URIHO is an institution for vocational rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilies, the oldest sheltered workshop in Croatia, founded in 1946. URIHO is a local government institution, founded by City of Zagreb. The constant increase of the disabled population and the imperative to successfully integrate them into the society has shaped the contemporary missions of URIHO: vocational rehabilitation and employment of people with disabilities.
This is achieved by hiring persons with disabilities in different production and administrative units, according to their abilities and preferences, and by vocational rehabilitation through various programs, as well as promoting their employment in the open market. Sheltered employment is organized within the production programs for textiles, ceramics, metal, leather, crafts, orthopedics, cardboard and printing.
Vocational rehabilitation program focuses on strengthening knowledge, skills and work habits of people with disabilities who are not able to directly get involved in the world of work because of various reasons (most frequently long-term unemployment).
Of the total number of employees in the URIHO institution, over 51% are persons with disabilities.

Our institution is constantly looking for new, dynamic ideas and ways to achieve our missions. Accordingly, we are looking for a partner with experience and interest in the area of disability, vocational rehabilitation and/or employment, for projects which include (but are not limited to) vocational development, transnational strategic partnerships, knowledge sharing and development of programs and methodologies for teaching and training.
