Teatr Brama

Teatr Brama is an independent theatre founded by Daniel Jacewicz in 1996, which later became a Socio-Cultural Education Association. BRAMA is a large group of artistic seekers who became friends. Together we are free to explore our most fragile inner selves in a safe environment where positive energy abounds, ever growing creatively in spontaneity and joy.
As a group we collect experience and create fresh ideas, out of our innocence and honesty, bravery is born. Bravery that is essential to life and the sometimes controversial world of theatre we create. Teatr Brama has a style all its own, which springs from the collective passion of the group. A group formed from the desire not to have, but instead to give, to our audience and our community. We aim to touch people with our work, to stir their feelings and move them to think - in this way we actively, creatively change the world.
Teatr Brama has created an all encompassing world where there is a place for everyone. We do not create performances for audiences to watch, because to experience Teatr Brama is not a passive action. We take our audiences on a journey, they participate in the story as we tell it and the story is fuelled by the energy the cast and audience build together.
We have created a truly artistic society and offer animation, education and acting workshops to the community at large. Some of our greatest successes are the young people our theatre attracts, who find in Brama a place where they fit, where they can sharpen their natural skills and grow to new levels of artistic professionalism.
Theatre Brama is based on self and environment , we utilize tradition and history in our storytelling as well as music . Our main method of work is improvisation and workshop experiments. Our ensemble is comprised primarily of young adults (aged 18-25). We aim to work with young people who are passionate about expressing themselves openly, honestly and artistically in performance.
We strongly believe in intercultural learning and informal education and aim to create an environment that engages young people. We find that this process and type of activities produce the best results for our association and help our members to develop skills that aid them in being productive members of society now and in their future lives.
We regularly travel to perform and teach theatrical workshops to groups of young people. By working with association young people have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of an independant theatre including office work, writing projects, teaching workshops, working events (festivals), technical aspects of theatre (sound, lights, set design/construction), research, creating new performances and most importantly joining our ensemble on stage – where all the magic happens!
