Mustafa Kemal High School was founded in 2004. It is situated in Sariyer, modern part of Istanbul. Sariyer is one of the most magnificent and attractive counties of Istanbul. Mustafa Kemal High School has 45 teachers and 991 students, aged between 14-18. Students can study the following branches; languages, sciences, history, literature, maths (general academic studies). Students have to attend the school for four years, from grade 9 to 12. After they graduate they have to take an exam to be accepted to a university. The students learn English and German as foreign languages.
Our school has a modern and rich library, a well equipped computer room, physics, chemistry, and biology labs. It also has a music hall, art room, and a conference hall. For sports activities, our students have a large garden and indoor gym. A school day starts at 8.20 am and ends at 3.25 pm.
The students are accepted to our school after passing a national examination which they take during grade 8 when they are at secondary school. Our students are among the highest tenth percentile in this exam.
We organize social activities like theater both in Turkish and English, exhibitions, sports tournaments, art competitions, excursions, poem recitals, ceremonies for national days.
We also have done several Erasmus+ and national projects. One of the projects was about global warming. We had partners from Holland, Norway, Austria, Germany, and Spain. We collaborated for two years. Another project was about intercultural dialogue. We had partners from Finland, Germany, Poland, Romania. This project was awarded among the best 20 projects.
We look forward to new opportunities to broaden our students' horizon by participating in different kinds of projects.
We are planning to apply for Democratic and Inclusive School Culture in Operation projects. We are looking for schools.
