Liceul Pedagogic "Matei Basarab"

Founded in 1971, „Matei Basarab” Pedagogical High School from Slobozia is nowadays considered a valuable guiding mark among the scholar network of the district Ialomita. More than 80% of the teachers in our district have graduated this school. Today, the Pedagogical High School is a complete learning centre, attended by 1185 students(ages between 3 and 19) distributed to per-primary, primary, lower and upper secondary level classes. Our educational process goal is to promote eternal human values as honesty, tolerance and uprightness so that our students can become fully integrated European citizens. The high school premises comprise of 45 classrooms, 8 laboratories for various specialities and one library with over 21.000 volumes. With a population of almost 56.000 inhabitants, the city of Slobozia is located in the South – East of Roumania, been easily accessible by road/ rail from Bucharest – Romanian's capital city. Most of the students of our high school come from the rural areas and therefore are facing serious financial difficulties. In spite of all these, they are very keen on learning and succeed in getting outstanding results at school. Our school was already involved in three ongoing Comenius and Erasmus projects, which fully shows its contribution to raising the students’ interest in learning.
