JugendSozialwerk Nordhausen e. V.

The association JugendSozialwerk Nordhausen e.V. is an NGO with over 1.000 employees in the middle of Germany. We specialized our work in social services for "every age". Our slogan „Acting. Socially. Together " is realized in every-days-work thanks to the individual support in care and help for our clients. We successfully operate more than 80 facilities, among them numerous kindergartens and schools with different pedagogical approaches such as Froebel or Montessori, youth work, family consultation centers, elderly care and youth hostels.

Another aspect of the work addresses family issues, especially for people with less financial and social opportunities. Furthermore a growing target group are families from different countries, who are supported to start a life in Germany and overcome obstacles, especially regarding all kind of cultural aspects. For the age group of elderly we offer flexible nursing services, the possibility to spend leisure time in community centres and fulltime help in nursing homes.

Furthermore we use the expertise of our staff members for international projects with youth and experts. Thereby the special focus is the work with children with fewer opportunities.
The group of socially and individual challenged children and teenagers get the chance to live in our remedial centres (Heilpädagogische Zentren) and dormitories, that are equipped according to their needs. In addition there are various offers for all teenagers regarding leisure time activities and offers for vacation such as climbing on a high rope course.

The association JugendSozialwerk Nordhausen e.V. has also well established experiences in the field of international projects for 25 years now. These include over all activities in the field of European Volunteers, the exchange of professionals and youths programs, as well as hosting and sending out European volunteers in the EVS program.

We also host a Europe-Direct Information Centre (EDIC) and thus organise various events concerning topics of the European Comission as well as the identification as European Citizens.
