The vision of GAF/GYF is to shape the future of Afghanistan and the globe by preserving our heritage, discovering new knowledge acquisition methods to develop Afghanistan and share our resources with the World.
Global Youth Forum is a unique and influential institution as it contains the power of unity that consists of different Afghan ethnic groups. GYF managed to bring together the future tribal leaders and persuade them to work hand in hand to diminish the gap between ethnicities and tribes in an ever ethnically divided country such as Afghanistan. Therefore, members add an enormous value to GYF with their education, professional experience and their perception towards building a sustainable Afghanistan. Hence, GYF holds the key for the future of Afghanistan with its focus on unity and education.
GYF will enhance the role of young professionals in Afghanistan and internationally to establish a platform to enable a peaceful reform in Afghanistan. Global Youth Forum was established to bring young educated and professional individuals under an umbrella to tackle the struggles against institutional corruption, building up and strengthening the spirit of accountability from communities, villages to the national and international levels.
We continuously promote the democratic values and contribute to the institutionalization of democracy and political participation amongst the marginalized sections of the society. Standing for/and promoting the new thought for rescuing Afghanistan from the vicious cycle of poverty, illiteracy, disunity, tension and stress.
The GYF aims to enhance the level of education in Afghanistan by improving the standard and quality of schools and Universities, training and employing qualified teachers and reducing the level of illiteracy so that Afghanistan heads towards a sustainable and fully-functioning state. As Franklin Benjamin stated, “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest’, we see education as the path to enlighten as it wipes out the wrong beliefs from our minds. It helps create a clear picture of things around us and erases all the confusion. It kindles the flame of curiosity and helps awaken the abilities to question and to reason. It makes us more self-aware.”
We want to create educated and shrewd leaders for Afghanistan; therefore, we have to bring together the Afghan youth who have excelled in their studies either abroad or within Afghanistan and create productive personnel from the pool of talent. In order to establish a successful and effective government in Afghanistan, we need educated youth to be recruited by the government institutions and they should be provided with opportunities within the third sector (private/NGOs). But the reality in the ground today is that the majority of government officials are either uneducated or has no qualification to govern a country that requires a tremendous amount of work to stand on its own feet.
Our idea of creating personnel means that we want to place as many educated people slowly but surely in all government levels so that they become leading figures in their respective areas. We have already convinced highly influential figures to be part of this inclusive institution. Our network has been widened in Egypt, Turkey, Arab countries, Pakistan and U.S.A, U.K and Europe.
G.A.F. is a chain of young professionals which aims to change the globe to a more educated, prosperous, safer, and above all a just Global Community. GAF will enhance the role of young professionals in Afghanistan and internationally to establish a platform to enable a peace reform. ; It is a unique established institution where acts as an umbrella among youths networks. We are holding the most powerful tool. This tool is our pen, paper, power of youth and cognition of common goals.
Facing unemployment, insecurity and lack of socio-economic opportunities at home, many Afghans, mostly young males, have increasingly resorted to costly and perilous illegal migration to European and other industrialized countries. Over 18,000 Afghan asylum-seekers were registered in 44 industrialized states in 2008 - a significant increase on previous years, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). “With 18,500 asylum applications submitted by Afghans in 2008, the number is at its highest since 2002 [29,400] and is almost double the figure of the year before [10,000],” said a UNHCR report entitled Asylum levels and trends in industrialized countries in 2008. “The deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan is likely to be the main reason, along with lack of economic opportunities,” Ron Redmond, a UNHCR spokesman in Geneva, told IRIN. Therefore, GYF is highly committed to working closely with the Afghan government and the international community to provide the youth of Afghanistan with the right conditions and opportunities for education and employment within Afghanistan so that they are rescued from the terribly dangerous and life-threatening journeys they make to get to Europe.
The vision is to create, maintain and expand a network of young, active, educated and influential Afghan professionals for utilizing them for working toward a prosperous safer and a just global community.
Our mission is to inspire the youth to take the initiative and to become active members in the communities in which they’re living in, bring positive changes, recognizing global problems and to take part in tackling these problems collectively.
