The Future Movement Association was founded in Istanbul on January 16, 2018 under the leadership of Muhammed İkbal, by students and graduates of Istanbul Medipol University. The Future Movement Association (GHD) aims to increase communication between different disciplines and generations; to build an academy, a civil society and ultimately a nation that addresses issues related to the future and has the ability to produce solutions to them. In the teams within the Science of the Future, extra care is taken to prevent the formation of a hierarchical and rigid system, and young people are offered the opportunity to manage themselves. Our platform members have undertaken social duties such as volunteering and university social club memberships. The students of the platform have participated in the trainings organized by the National Agency and have taken part in national agency projects as youth workers. The Archaeology and Art History Workshop is a workshop established by the Science of the Future. The main team of this workshop, which has received more than 430 applications to date, consists of nearly 20 team members. From art historians to architects, historians, restoration specialists, food engineers to environmental engineers, many people from different disciplines work together to run the workshop system and weekly programs. The fact that people from different environments and backgrounds work together also provides individuals with an experience that they cannot easily obtain in their professions or schools. The distribution of work in our team gives them a sense of belonging, while ensuring that those who participate in the workshop can easily learn from successful instructors in their fields. Our workshop is growing day by day in the ongoing process based on volunteering. Even the writing of the Erasmus+ project has added a completely different vision to our workshop team. The project team, the ‘Archaeology and Art History Team’, was formed by the coming together of the workshop’s consultants and assistants. All of these structures are structured under the ‘Future Movement Association’. First of all, let’s talk about the starting point of the work, what does GHD do? It is the structure that establishes the thought system consisting of young people with different interests and coming together from different cities in GHD. This system, which works without any profit, has an inter/multi/trans-disciplinary working principle for people from every discipline. GHD follows youth work within a system. There are separate workshops within GHD that attract people from every field and every segment. Future volunteers contribute to their professional development thanks to the networks established by meeting with experts in many fields one-on-one at the meetings held on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. In fact, this also opens employment opportunities for young volunteers. Through the formation established by this association, volunteers learn how to run a business as a team.
