ASPANIAS BURGOS FOUNDATION: AN ORGANIZATION SERVING PEOPLE

Aspanias Burgos Foundation is a non-profit and social organization founded in 2004 by the Association of Parents and Relatives of People with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (Asociación Aspanias). Aspanias Association, an organization with 55 years of life, is the parent organization of the Aspanias Group, which also created CISA Foundation and Aspaniasmerc 2016 SLU.
Today, Aspanias Burgos Foundation is the main reference in the province of Burgos for other social organizations and administrations, both for their work methodologies (AICP - Comprehensive Care in the Person) and for the wide range of services aimed at improving the quality of life of people with intellectual or development disability throughout their life cycle and regardless of the intensity and level of support they require.
Aspanias Burgos Foundation has different centres and services: educational centres, training centres, guidance and employment support services, independent living services and the promotion of personal autonomy, leisure services, culture and sports, etc. also, in recent years it has begun to provide people with disabilities due to mental illness and elderly people, through the start-up of new residential services and day care centres. Aspanias Burgos Foundation works in the city of Burgos and also in rural areas of the province.
Last year, the Foundation provided services to over 1,500 people (811 places for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, 47 students in the educational centre, over 150 places for elderly people in situations of dependence, 35 places of residence and day centre for people with mental illness and a good number or services related to training and labour intermediation services.
240 professionals currently work with different roles and levels of responsibility to enable people with disabilities to develop their life projects through the provision of different services and services. Throughout the year, over 60 students from the University of Burgos and the National University of Distance Education (UNED) have passed through its facilities.
Aspanias Burgos Foundation is an entity associated with Plena Inclusión, the largest social movement supporting people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families in Spain. Also takes part in the Network of Social Entities of Disability for Cooperation and Innovation (Circles Network), the Sharing Network and the Social Innovation Forum and has participation in the main forums of the city, case of the Social Council of the City of Burgos or the different groups and platforms under the leadership of the City Council (disability, family, youth, etc.).
Aspanias Group provides services to families of people with intellectual disabilities (support, orientation, training, etc.) and also to people with intellectual disabilities in the fields of leisure, sports, holidays, inclusive leisure, etc. The group has over one thousand members and over hundred volunteers.
