The Partner-Finding Tool
Epoka e Re is a Non Profit Youth Center, based in Fier, Albania, since 2005.
Our target group is youth aged from 14 to 29 from different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our mission is to address the need for youth to self-organize, to become an active part of the community, as well as to educate young people to be more responsible world citizens.
The vision of the organization is to foster processes of social change, development, democratic progress and having a positive impact in the local community through youth collaboration. During these years we have been working through on-going partnerships with the local municipality, national institutions and other regional organizations, because we believe that cross-border cooperation is a powerful tool to build long lasting peace in the Balkan Region.
The organization’s team consists of full time social workers, a lawyer, an administrator, a project manager, part time experts for different activities and we also offer volunteering opportunities for local and international youth, promoting their empowerment.
Our main activities have a focus on empowering young people to actively shape their own living conditions and environment, becoming key agents of change.
Epoka e Re works primarily in the areas of youth activism, non-formal education, vocational education, social inclusion of marginalized groups, gender equality, environment and climate change, as well as culture of peace and human rights.
In line with our vision and mission, through a participatory approach, 5 youth groups are currently active: (1) the Youth Parliament, (2) the Environmental group; (3) the Debate group; (4) the Peer Educators group and (5) the Youth Advisory group. The core activities promoted by our youth groups are awareness raising campaigns, lobbying and advocacy at a local level, trainings and workshops.
Epoka e Re also offers several daily activities for young people in order to divert them from the dangers of their age and to encourage youth proactivity and engagement, such as: artistic and literacy competitions, photography, acting, video-making and journalism courses, as well as recreational activities.
In addition to it, young people take part in training courses and workshops on various topics like healthy lifestyle, drug and alcohol abuse, life skills etc.
In the last 10 years, Epoka e Re has been organizing a 5-day Summer School focused on “Leadership and Human Rights” in a small village situated on the Albanian coast. Each year about 100 young students aged 14 to 18 participate and develop skills that are important for their personal development as well as for the whole society.
