CSC JEAN WAGNER

The association « Social and Cultural Center Jean Wagner », was created in 1964, by a grassroots group of women and men, citizens involved in collective action.

This “all for all” dynamic is the foundation of the « Social and Cultural Center Jean Wagner », at a time when « doing and living together » was the way of life in the popular neighborhoods.

The main objectives are :
- To promote values with reference to the individual, collective and social dimensions of each human being ;
- To facilitate social inclusion and socialisation of persons,
- To develop social links and social cohesion in the city,
- To foster empowerment and citizenship.

Thus the Social and Cultural Center Jean Wagner deploys its project in complementary dimensions :
- Activities and services (individual dimension) : Residents have access to services and activities adapted to the needs they have ;
- Support for projects (collective dimension): The Social and Cultural Center Jean Wagner supports residents' collective projects ;
- Development of citizenship (dimension of general interest): The Social and Cultural Center Jean Wagner strengthens the power of the inhabitants to act on social questions that concern their territory, by promoting innovative responses.

The Social and Cultural Center has some accreditation :
- « Youth and Popular Education Organization » by Ministery of Youth and Sports ;
- Public Service Delegation: early childhood care in nursery and after-school care ;
- Leisure Center with or without accomodation ;
- Approval of the Family Allowance Fund (Social and Cultural Center /animation of social life)
- Allocation of an intervention territory by the city of Mulhouse…

The staff (46 employees in 3 differents sectors : early childhood; childhood and youth; adults and families) is invested in daily topics such as the development of social cohesion, citizenship, parenting support and prevention, health education, the development of skills /life long learning, collective responsability and empowerment…

The CSC receives funding from :
- Public service delegation services ;
- Receipts from activities ;
- Public operating grants ;
- Public investment subsidies ;
- Public and private grants for projects and activities ;
- Membership ;
- Donations.
