Collectif XXY

XXY Collective works through shows, performances, pedagogical or local art activities. We mainly deal with notions of standard and gender through an interdisciplinary approach to reveal an individual and subjective intimacy. These questions are tackled in very different context such as universities, theaters etc. And also through educational experiences, research laboratories, spectacular forms, collaborative projects with inhabitants, students, sports etc. The concept of research is also a focus for the Collective. Research projects and laboratories are established by various projects holders, sometimes for the creation of a show, but also in order to take the time of a simple exploration and experimentaion. The point is taking our time to produce according to our wishes.
Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene in the 1980s. It gained mainstream exposure when it was featured in Madonna's song and video "Vogue" (1990), and when showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris is Burning. Inspired by Vogue magazine, voguing is characterized by model-like poses integrated with angular, linear, and rigid arm, leg, and body movements. Over the years, the dance evolved into the more intricate and illusory form that is now called "vogue". Voguing is continually developed further as an established dance form. We would like to research how a group of Youth Exchanges could grab, take over this cultural mouvement and go further with it's own artistic practice. Voguing is a way to fight against all type of discrimination.
