CO.RI.S.S.

CO.RI.S.S. is a Social Co-operative, established in 1991 and operating in the following fields:
- vocational training
- social and health services for disadvantaged people (substance misusers, minors, people with disabilities, women in difficulty, immigrants)
The organization has a regional scope and provides social services in the three districts of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, within Calabria Region. It has gained long-standing experience with European Programs and Projects.
The Co-operative is recognized by Regione Calabria as Regional Vocational Training Center.

Below, a short description of the main Services the Co-operative offers:

• Droga Stop, a Daytime Centre for former substance misusers where specific projects about recovery and social inclusion are carried on. It is based in Crotone.
• Domus, a safe house for women that have been subjected to domestic violence, based in Melissa (District of Crotone).
• Dopo di noi, a house for people with disabilities whose families are not able to take care of them any longer, in Santa Severina (Crotone).

• Furfanti, house for young people with mental health problems and/or judicial proceedings, in Catanzaro.

• Villa Arcobaleno, a community for psychiatric rehabilitation in Limbadi (Vibo Valentia).
• PortAperta, a daytime center for people with disabilities
• Imparando Dyslexia Center, a study center that also offers afterschool services for minors with specific learning disabilities.
• Several vocational training courses, directed to both unemployed and employed people, mainly to those working in social fields.

CO.RI.S.S. has carried out, in the past, several other projects. The most important are:
• Three E.U. initiative Horizon, with the realization of an Integrated System of Educational, Informational and Rehabilitation Services for people with disabilities – based on new informatics technologies - and the development of a common European methodology for the promotion – at a working and social level – of those persons.
• Donne Protagoniste, a project directed to women (single parent) with no job and a low income; within the Project, a vocational training course – to train domestic helpers- was realized.
• S.I.L. (Servizio per l’Inserimento Lavorativo), a Service for work and social inclusion of drug addicted. Located in Crotone.
• Two Informagiovani, Information Centres for Young People (located in two different cities of our region, Crotone and Vibo Valentia) providing information and guidance to young people about educational opportunities, job chances (also in foreign countries) and free time.
• Ausilioteca, a service for minors with disabilities providing counselling, information, educational activities to families, teachers, people working in the field of the handicap. All the activities are based upon the use of informatics tools (specific hardware and software) helping the disabled with their learning and communication problems. Located in Catanzaro.
• Social Indicators and Urban Regeneration, a project financed by the European Commission within the Community Action Programme to combat social exclusion. The aim of the project was to develop a common set of social indicators to be used for evaluating a country’s level of exclusion and assessing the impact of policies to combat social exclusion.
• A Research on Social Exclusion in the District of Crotone, financed by Provincia di Crotone and carried out on the basis of a methodology called RAMSEP (Rapid Appraisal Method of Social Exclusion and Poverty).The outcome of the project was a report about the social conditions in the district of Crotone and the evaluation of the policies against social exclusion carried out at a local level.
• Several Erasmus+ Projects, including the following:
o TIPS for Parents of dyslexic child, a project financed within the LLP Program – Grundtvig Sub-program. Tips project aimed to develop an accredited course for parents of dyslexic childrens, to provide information, support, guidance and resources.
o SME - Skills for Migrants Entrepreneurs, aiming to the creation of specific tools to support the integration of migrants and the start-up of new companies created by skilled migrants through Guidelines, on-line training and awareness raising actions.
o LWRMI - Let's work for a real migrants inclusion!, a project of exchange of best practices among Italy, Turkey, Uk, Bulgaria, Greece aimed at finding solutions to the refugees and migrants problems
