Charity Foundation “Caritas Moldova”

Charity Foundation ”Caritas Moldova”, was established on 10 May 1995 .Also caritas Moldova is a member of Caritas Europa, in whole 49 members and of Caritas Internationalis, in whole 165 members.
The main objective of the organization is to working in favor of people in need:
* benefit of elderly with minimum living standards
* homeless people, and other people in a difficult situation
* people with disabilities, incurable patients, ones with serious pathologies
* children and youngsters from vulnerable families
The main directions of activities are:
1. Community development - is a long-term process of helping community to strengthen itself capacity to work collectively which entails the mobilization, participation and involvement of local people on common issues identified and prioritized by them through implementation of various activities and projects. This is achieved through:
- mobilization and development of the community, promotion of the local initiatives.
- promotion of social values and strategies of reducing the poverty, mobilization of youth and adults in serving the charity, consolidation of volunteer activities.
- renovation of social infrastructure. Planning and renovation works are carried out at buildings with social mission: kindergartens, orphanages, vocations schools, centres for children and elderly, medical institutions, playgrounds, etc.

2. Medical assistance- Caritas Moldova provides assistance and medical and social home care to people suffering from incurable, chronic diseases, physical disability, to lonely and socially vulnerable persons. This is achieved through:
- Qualified medical home care by multi-professional teams for elderly and ill persons, particularly those who are suffering from cancer.
- Supporting patients in everyday life.
- Visiting incurable patients, regardless of the stage of the illness and individual needs.
- Psychological and spiritual support, regardless of the religion.
- Help in keeping contact with family members that are abroad.
- Providing assistance to state institutions and prophylaxis of diseases:
- Support provided to medical state institutions and residential institutions for children and elderly in prophylaxis and treatment of diseases;
- Promoting prophylaxis of diseases with high social impact (hepatitis, tuberculosis, HIV, AIDS, etc.) programmes;
- Providing humanitarian assistance consisting of medical and paramedical equipment, medicine and technical assistance of persons with special needs, specialized public associations, state institutions.

3. Social Assistance - Caritas Moldova committed to provide services for people in need, excluded and having limited access to education, social benefits etc. through social projects based on family integration, education assistance and prevention of homelessness and inclusion of elderly people, searching for local resources and empowering the community members.
4. Education, Prevention and Youth- This programme comes to help children and youth providing them alternative opportunities of personal development, reintegration in school environment, promoting the healthy style of life, solid moral principles, supporting people which find themselves in difficult social and economic circumstances through educational programmes, as the most effective way to escape poverty.
- Educational programmes for children and youth, resocialization of children from vulnerable families, prevention of school abandonment, social integration of children with disabilities.
- Social reintegration of children with disabilities, training of parents, relatives, community groups and experts in assistance and care of children with special needs.

5. Organizational development, lobby and advocacy
