THE CENTRE OF TRAINING AND EDUCATION (CKiW) OF THE VOLUNTARY LABOUR CORPS (OHP) IN PLESZEW

The Centre of Education and Bringing Up (VLC) is the state-run unit, appointed on 15th May 1994, in the former military unit premises. It contains 22 buildings and objects, including: boarding house for the youth, training-production workshops, Centre of Vocational Training (OSZ).

The activity of CKiW in Pleszew combines two functions – supplementing of bringing up tasks, educational tasks, socialization tasks in relation to the neglected youth and realization of the employment tasks, including – first of all – tasks to the benefit of unemployed teenagers.

The Centre CKiW provides not only education but also organizes professional training and preparation for the adolescents. The Centre provides appropriate conditions for running of protective, preventive and resocializing activities, compensating the defects and all sorts of disadvantageous environmental influences.

Work with the youth carried out in the Unit is a sort of response to social expectations and demand for concrete, real help, and frequently, the only proposition protecting the adolescents against demoralization and infringing the law.

Two schools are functioning in the Centre’s premises. The adolescents educated in the Gymnasium (upper primary school) with the Units Adapting for Work are apprenticed in the professions: gardener, tailor/tailoress, upholsterer, cook in small catering, bricklayer, locksmith. The Basic Vocational/Trade School provides an opportunity of achieving the following professions: cook in small catering, carpenter/joiner. The leading organ managing the above mentioned Schools is the Association „Education – Youth” who contribute to effective realizing of didactic process. The teenagers have also an opportunity of realizing various cultural, sport, recreation, etc. interests.

The VLC Unit was also granted with accreditation carried out by the District Examination Commission (OKE) in Poznań, and in result of this we achieved the Certificate authorizing for carrying out of external vocational examinations in eight professions.

Supplementation of rich Centre’s activities is realization of Projects and Undertakings providing vocational activization. With reference to the above, the VLC Centre organizes Regional Conferences of Vocational Schooling, as well as carries out the Forum of Vocational Activization. Moreover, for several years the Centre has been running wide policy of the social–economic activization forms in local societies, equalizing of chances in the market, and counteracting the unemployment. In order to possess efficient realization of these targets, the VLC Centre makes use of occurring support opportunities in the determined thematic fields, which originate from the programme assumptions of assistance funds by the European Union. However, we do not forget that we should bring into the family of the State Members such things as Polish tradition, our customs and educational-cultural inheritance. This is why we realize the projects, within which it is possible obtain the partial target-type donations from the European Union’s assistance funds, and from the other institutions running the supporting policy for the strictly documented and justified needs, programmes, trainings, promoting active forms of educating the local societies, identifying simultaneously with the policy and programme assumptions of the European Union.
