KadoinKatena is a sport association for amateurs, part of the F.A.S.I. network (Federazione Arrampicata Sportiva Italiana – Italian federation for sport climbing) based in Genoa, Italy.
We are committed to the promotion of sport climbing since 1998 and, in 2001, we have opened up the first training ground for sport climbing of our region, one of the first in Italy, getting inspiration from the big indoor centres in Europe. Our training ground, called “Sciorba” is located in one of the most important Italian sport centres and is the only one in our region accredited for activities with schools, being officially recognized by CONI (Italian Olympic committee) since 2005.
In more than 13 years we have involved in our sport climbing trainings more than 130.000 people and we have organized around 50 sport events. We organize trainings for people of all age, and have many cooperation agreements with schools, from kindergartens to secondary schools, for whom we organize trainings during school time. We are very much concerned with social issues: we have set up a cooperation with Italian Ministry for Justice, involving detained people in our activities. Furthermore, we are collaborating with Genoa Social Services for the setting up of trainings specifically for disadvantaged people. In recent years, we are applying our know-how in the field of sport climbing to the sector of prevention/treatment of disabilities, and our staff has got specific trainings on these issues. We have set up an agreement with AISM- Associazione Italiana Sclerosi Multipla (the Italian association that gather people affected by multiple sclerosis) and every week we have specific trainings with people affected by this disease: through specific exercise, people can really profit form sport climbing since it stimulates mussels. We are also collaborating with centres working with children suffering from autism and all related pathologies: sport climbing, indeed, has positive effects on children’ behaviour and provide them with increase self-awareness and self-esteem.
