Amasya Municipality

Our institution is a local government. We are preparing projects for social, cultural and technical program calls. We follow the calls with our nearly 50 technical personnel and 8 project specialists.
Amasya, located in the middle of the Black Sea Region in the north of Turkey; It fascinates all its guests with its green nature and historical beauties. The belief of the Mother Goddess, which spread in Anatolia as an extension of Persian culture, gave our city its name.
Our city is referred to as "the city with a blessed stream" in Hittite tablets. Yeşilırmak, with its ancient name Iris River, flows through the middle of our city, which was once home to the Kings and later to the young princes and became the Ottoman Sanjak.
Yalıboyu Konakları, the Ottoman architecture by the river, invites you to live in history. During the period when he was the capital of the Kingdom of Pontus, the King Rock Tombs, the traces of the search for immortality of the five kings, from King Mithridates I Ktistes to Pharnakes I, add the smell of history to your view, Harşena Castle and Maiden's Castle at the top.
It has registered all this historical richness on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
As Amasya Municipality, we started to operate an IPA supported solid waste landfill facility in 2009, an IPA supported wastewater treatment facility in 2013, and an electricity generation facility from Landfill Gas in 2015. In 2018, we started electricity generation with the hydroelectric power plant that built on the river bed, supported by the Development Agency. We continue to invest in renewable energy resources and the environment with the hydroelectric power plant we will build on the drinking water transmission line, which was started in 2021.
