Youth@Work "Green Jobs for tomorrow"

Seminar

30 October - 3 November 2023 | Cyprus

A 3-day seminar where we will discover the importance of green jobs, showcase success stories, gather input from youth workers, enhance cooperation among local stakeholders, and create an awareness campaign.

Description of the seminar

Having a workforce with the skills that are in demand contributes to sustainable growth, leads to more innovation and improves competitiveness. With the emergency in the climate crisis, green jobs/skills/competences are a necessity of the immediate future and therefore have to be made more visible and hence attractive to young persons seeking to embark on their lifelong career.

Greenjobs for tomorrow is a three-day seminar where we discover the importance of green jobs, showcase success stories, gather input from youth workers, enhance cooperation among local stakeholders, learn how to prepare youth for green jobs, create an awareness campaign, discuss and learn about local realitites, and finally plan the dissemination of the seminar’s outcomes in order to emphasize the significance of green employment.

This seminar is implemented in the framework of the European Year of Skills, hence the emphasis on the development and sharing of green skills.

Objectives

  • To understand what green jobs are, what they can be in the immediate present and future and why they are essential.
  • To collect and promote success stories related to green jobs and their connection to youth work.
  • To meet youth workers (locally and internationally) who are interested/invovled in the topic of  green jobs in order to map different points of views, demands and realities.
  • To debate on how the cooperation between the different local stakeholders can be more efficient so as to provide more competent youngsters for green jobs and for green job development based on the previous small survey that participants will prepare.
  • To collectively create a plan / campaign plan on how to involve and draw local stakeholders’ attention to the importance of green jobs.

Target group:

Trainers, multipliers, youth workers, and researchers in the Youth field, as well as trainers, professors, teachers, and researchers in the Education and Training, who work with young people and recognize the relevance of green jobs and skills for their future.

Fluent English proficiency, commitment to seminar participation and follow-up activities, and willingness to work in teams are essential.

ABOUT YOUTH@WORK PARTNERSHIP

In 2018, a consortium of 11 Erasmus+/Youth National Agencies (NAs) and 4 SALTO-YOUTH Resource Centres decided to take a new approach to support employability and entrepreneurship amongst young people and professionals. They, therefore, launched the Youth@Work Strategic Partnership on Youth Employability and Entrepreneurship, with the aim to better address these areas by working collaboratively, based on a common strategy.

Youth@Work is an alliance of the NAs of Italy (the leading NA), Cyprus, North Macedonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Poland, Spain, and Finland, with the support of the SALTO Training and Cooperation (Germany) Resource Centres. It runs from January 2018 to December 2020, when the Erasmus+ Programme ends.
