Tribute to Earth: Eco-Awakening in the Midst of Crisis

E-learning

19-21 July 2023 | online, Cyprus

“Tribute to Earth” is a series of 3 Webinars bringing together youth workers who are passionate to deepen into innovative methods to work with youth on Environmental issues.

As the web of life becomes worn and torn, we are more and more required to find new ways to contribute to the restoration and enhancement of Life on Earth. Environment and climate action are constantly key priorities for the EU. How can youth participate in the web in Life-enhancing ways?

The “Tribute to Earth” Webinars constitute the dissemination activity of all the learning gathered through the project “The Tree of Light” which was co-funded by the European Union. They offer a combination of Theories and Methods to enrich youth workers’ toolkit. Special attention will be given to the concept of “Eco-Awakening” as suggested by Dr Bill Plotkin (author and depth psychologist). Eco-Awakening is a shift in human consciousness that invites us to find our human place in relationship to the greater web of life. Only by feeling members of the Earth community youth may take honest, bald and heart-centered actions towards the Earth.

Below, a more detailed information about each of the webinar is provided.

  • WEBINAR 1 – AWAKENING THE WILD

This webinar will explore methods of supporting youth to reconnect with the wild nature, both within and without them, and finding the ways of protecting and empowering it.

When: Wednesday 19th July 2023, 3:30-5:00pm EEST.

  • WEBINAR 2 – EARTH POETRY

This webinar will explore the ways of supporting youth to feel closer to the art that Earth constantly creates, to admiring it and thus contribute to its protection.

When: Thursday 20th July 2023, 3:30-5:00pm EEST.

  • WEBINAR 3 – GAIA’S DREAM

This webinar will explore the concept of the “Dream of the Earth” and will offer ways for youth to feel “deep nature connection” and take actions in soulful, visionary and life-enhancing ways.

When: Friday 21st July 2023, 3:30-5:00pm EEST.

“Our relationship with the Earth involves something more than pragmatic use, academic understanding, or aesthetic appreciation. A truly human intimacy with the Earth and with the entire natural world is needed. Our children should be properly introduced to the world in which they live.” (Thomas Berry, “Human Presence,” in The Dream of the Earth, 13).
