Training Course "Integration Policies at Local Level"

Training Course

20-26 November 2022 | Bilbao, Spain

Join this training to exchange experiences, improve knowledge and develop competencies, and abilities in the area of designing and implementing migrant youth-friendly policies in local municipalities.

The training will be based on first results of the project "Migrant Youth Friendly Cities" implemented under coordination of DYPALL Network (Developing Youth Participation at Local Level).

It is designed for municipality officers, youth workers and young migrants or young people with migrant backgrounds from Spain, Greece, Portugal and Sweden.

The training, based on non-formal education methodologies, will contribute to their professional development, and improve their knowledge, competencies, and abilities to design and implement migrant youth-friendly policies at the local level.

During the Training Course, participants will understand better how integration processes can involve different stakeholders and target groups during the decision-making processes, how local organisations can support the integration processes, and what consequences can have local integration policies on the day-to-day life of migrant and refugee youth.

Participants will also discover, analyse and evaluate methods, strategies and models of integration of young migrants and young people with migrant backgrounds at the local level coming from different European countries, and numerous local realities and municipalities, based on the research results performed under the project.

The Training will also serve as a platform to discuss the possibility of designing and creating an assessment tool for improving or creating new more successful, sustainable integration policies at local level. It will offer self-assessment and reflection moments when the participants can evaluate their personal learning process, network and build possible partnerships for the future.

Objectives

The specific objectives of this Training are to:

  • learn about existing migrant youth-friendly practices in municipal policies from 4 European countries;
  • develop competencies in designing migrant youth-friendly policies and practices at the local level;
  • increase knowledge and expertise about different approaches to integration policies in the municipalities;
  • inspire the future outcomes of the project: an assessment tool for migrant youth-friendly municipalities and guidelines to improve the youth friendliness of the cities;
  • build sustainable contacts in the area of migrant youth-friendly cities for future work at the local, regional, national and international levels.
