Trainer's Think Tank: What Role Should Generative AI Tools Play in Education?

Conference – Symposium - Forum

18-21 May 2023 | United Kingdom

Are you are a trainer, teacher, educator, or innovator? Join us in the UK from 18-21st May for a trainer’s think tank session on 'What Role Should Generative AI Tools Play in Education?'.

The Fear

Some teachers fear that students will use chatGPT as a crutch to do their homework, leading to a lack of learning and critical thinking. These educators are concerned that students will rely on the tool for answers, rather than developing their own understanding and problem-solving skills. Additionally, teachers worry about the accuracy of the information produced by chatGPT, as it writes with full confidence but is prone to making mistakes and doesn't show its sources. This fear of inaccurate information and a potential decrease in learning outcomes is driving some schools to resist the use of AI tools like chatGPT, instead of incorporating them as part of the educational process.

The Potential

However, despite these fears, many educators and experts believe that there are potential benefits to using chatGPT in education, including:

  • Speed and Efficiency: ChatGPT can respond to students' questions and provide information quickly, freeing up teachers' time to focus on more important tasks.
  • Personalised Learning: ChatGPT can provide individualised responses and recommendations to students based on their needs and learning styles.
  • Accessibility: ChatGPT can be used by students with special needs or disabilities to access information and resources more easily.
  • Increased Engagement: ChatGPT can help keep students engaged in their learning by providing interactive and dynamic content.
  • Wider Coverage: ChatGPT can provide information on a wide range of subjects, making it a valuable resource for schools with limited resources.

The Invitation

We invite trainers, educators, teachers, and all individuals with a unique perspective on the role of AI in education to join us for a 4-day 'Trainer's Think Tank'. The aim of this event is to workshop ideas on how we can harness the potential of tools like chatGPT to revolutionise education. As we delve into this topic, we also want to question whether these tools are helping digital inclusion or widening the inequality gap. Together, let's explore the possibilities and find solutions to maximise the positive impact of AI in education. Join us and be a part of shaping the future of education.
