Study Visit in Türkiye: Rural Youth Work

Study Visit

10-15 September 2024 | Kars, Türkiye

The aim of this study visit is to explore firsthand how youth work is implemented in rural areas and how it contributes to rural development by empowering young people.

A Practical Experience

Are you a youth worker or manager dedicated to supporting young people in rural areas? Or are you eager to learn more about rural youth work and apply it in your practice? Join us for a study visit where we will explore rural youth work firsthand through visits to a variety of organizations—ranging from large-scale to small-scale, public to semi-public, and non-governmental. This comprehensive exploration will give you valuable insights into the diverse approaches to youth work in rural settings.

Venue

Kars, located in northeastern Türkiye, is a city with a rich historical and cultural heritage, known for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ani. Kars is also a focus for rural development initiatives. We will have the chance to observe these initiatives and see how youth work is contributing. 

Objectives:

  • To discover & learn from experiences of different types of youth organizations working on rural youth work;

  • To discuss the quality of rural youth work and how it can be improved; 
  • To share best practices between organizations;
  • To build partnerships for international rural youth cooperation.

Participant Profile

There will be approx. 35 participants coming from Programme and Partner countries:

  • active in rural youth work;
  • interested in international rural youth cooperation;
  • eager to learn more about rural youth work and apply it in your practice;
  • having potential to influence rural youth work development in their community / region;
  • having a working knowledge of English, the working language of the activity;
  • available to actively attend the full duration of the activity.

There will be both in door activities aims at discussing rural youth work and build partnerhips.

Transportation during the study visists will be provided with private shuttles by Turkish National Agency.

Accommodation and food

Turkish National Agency will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Your sending National Agency will support your travel costs. After being selected, please contact your NA to learn more about how to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.

FOR PARTNER COUNTRIES

Turkish National Agency will reimburse travel expenses of participants from partner countries. Details will be sent those who are selected. 

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
