Study Visit in Türkiye: Refugee Youth Work

Study Visit

14-18 October 2024 | Ankara, Türkiye

The aim of the study visit is to observe best practices of Turkish youth organizations working with youth with refugee or migrant background.

Real-World Insights

The mass displacement of humans in the close regions created a unique challenge for Turkish organizations and authorities. This led to the creation of various effective practices that continue to support migrants at every stage —from entering a new country to establishing a new life.

This study visit explores how youth work addresses the challenges of supporting youth with refugee or migrant background.

During the activity, we will learn from experts, visit local projects, and meet organizations working with refugees to observe and discuss innovative services and strategies developed in Türkiye.

Objectives :

  • To discover and learn from the diverse experiences of youth organizations working with refugees.
  • To share best practices and innovative approaches between organizations to foster mutual learning.
  • To discuss and enhance the quality of refugee youth work by identifying areas for improvement.
  • To build and strengthen partnerships for international cooperation in refugee youth work.
  • To explore adaptable practices from Türkiye that can be implemented in different contexts, addressing various stages of a refugee's journey.
  • To gain a deeper understanding of the needs of refugee and migrant youth, and how these needs can be met through tailored services and support.

Whom is this Study Visit for?

There will be approximately 35 participants from Programme and Partner countries who:

  • are actively engaged in refugee youth work;
  • are at least 18 years old;
  • have a keen interest in international cooperation focused on supporting refugee youth;
  • are eager to deepen their understanding of refugee youth work and apply new insights in their practice;
  • possess the potential to influence the development of refugee youth work in their communities or regions;
  • have a working knowledge of English, the official language of the activity;
  • are committed to actively participating for the entire duration of the activity.
