What is a Study Lab?

The Study Lab is an activity format that integrates exploratory and reflective elements to support trainers and academics from education and training of youth workers. It aims to inspire participants, encourage reflection on current processes and practices, and ultimately enhance training and educational opportunities for youth workers. A Study Lab is purposely a short activity with a visit to local youth work practice as part of its program. Preparation and follow-up activities, extending beyond the residential meeting itself, are integral components of the overall process. The Study Lab activity will engage a small group of no more than 12–16 participants, plus facilitators.

Objectives:

  • Critical analysis of how professional identity (PI)  is formed and its relevance in education and training of youth workers 
  • Exploring the role and boundaries of youth work practice in shaping professional identity and formation 
  • Collecting methods and tools that can be used to develop professional identity of youth workers 
  • Providing a space for reflection to improve/develop methods, tools for professional identity formation in the education and training of youth work
  • Strengthening cooperation in education and training of youth work within the national context. 

Profile of participants

  • You participate in youth work education and training as a lecturer, professor, trainer,
  • You participate in developing education and training strategies and interested in discussing them at European – international environment,
  • You are ready to reflect on your role as a youth work educator or trainer. 
  • You are willing to contribute to systemic change  in the further development of quality youth worker education and training.

Participation fee

This project is financed by the participating National Agencies (NAs) of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Programme. The participation fee varies from country to country. Please contact your National Agency or SALTO Resource Centre (SALTO) to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food

The hosting NA will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your NA or SALTO in order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA or SALTO again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
