STEP IN - Supporting Training for Empowerment, Participation and Inclusion

Training Course

18-25 June 2025 | Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal

STEP IN is a 6-day international training course organised by Associação Juventude de Vila Fonche under its Erasmus+ Accreditation in the youth field.

STEP IN is a 6-day international training course organised by Associação Juventude de Vila Fonche under its Erasmus+ Accreditation in the youth field. It brings together youth workers, volunteers, and partner organisations working with young people with fewer opportunities, particularly in rural and marginalised areas.

Through collaborative learning and non-formal education, the course will focus on inclusion, local empowerment, and the role of youth work in promoting meaningful community participation.

STEP IN is more than a training course – it is an invitation to step into action, to take that first step towards strengthening youth participation and transforming communities, one step at a time, together.

Main objectives:

- To strengthen the capacity of youth workers, volunteers, and partner organisations by providing practical tools and methodologies to empower young people with fewer opportunities, especially those from rural and marginalised areas.

- To explore the Erasmus+ Programme as a strategic tool for social inclusion, active participation, and community-based youth empowerment, focusing on NEET youth and those facing multiple barriers.

- To share and reflect on good practices of local youth work, encouraging the involvement of young people in their communities and promoting active civic participation.

- To foster the creation of sustainable cooperation networks among organisations working with youth in peripheral areas, through peer learning and the exchange of strategies and approaches.

- To develop key competences of youth workers based on the ETS Competence Model, such as supporting youth empowerment, applying quality non-formal education methods, working with diversity and inclusion, and using the European context as a resource for local development.
