Self-awareness through active citizenship

Training Course

30 October - 6 November 2024 | Rhodes, Greece

Our project aims to empower youth change-makers by helping them understand themselves better and become active citizens in their communities.

When: 30/10–6/11/2024 (including travel dates — 6 days of training and 2 days of travel)

Deadline for application: 20th of September, 00.00 CET

What you need to know :

Our project aims to empower 28 change-makers by helping them understand themselves better and become active citizens in their communities. Through workshops on emotional intelligence, non-violent communication, conflict resolution, and project planning, we want to equip them with the skills they need to engage in peace-building activities.

Our goal is not only to deepen their understanding of themselves and their communities but also to provide them with the tools to initiate and sustain peaceful initiatives.

This project is a collaboration between the Iasmos Collective Project and the informal network of young peacebuilders known as the Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN).

At YPAN and Iasmos, we prioritize sustainability and believe in peace on multiple levels — personal, social, and environmental. Therefore, this project also aims to promote sustainability and environmental peace alongside its primary objectives.

This is why we created this project!

OBJECTIVES

The specific objectives are:

  • To build participants' understanding and embodiment of the definitions and equip them with tools of self-awareness through Active citizenship and vice versa.
  • To provide tools for understanding today’s complex world and how its concepts are connected, empowering us to participate actively in our communities.
  • To give a chance to create a space and a hub for healthy networking and sustainable cooperation to stay connected after the TC is over.
  • To develop at least 6 follow-up workshops by participants with the support of the team to act as multipliers in their local
  • communities.
  • To enable people to be architects of their own lives, support their personal development and growth to autonomy, build their resilience and equip them with life skills to cope with a changing world.

We will implement the basic elements of non-formal education, such as the education being voluntary, organized with educational objectives, participatory and learner-centered, about learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship, based on involving both individual and group learning with a collective approach, holistic and process-oriented, as well as based on experience and action (we will plan the follow-up activities) and starts from the needs of the participants.

Basically is a peer-to-peer (you teach & learn from others) approach
