NURTURING SECURITY- Attachment-based tools to promote emotional well-being in Youth Work

Training Course

31 March - 5 April 2025 | Salinas. Asturias, Spain

How can we be more aware of our body and more present for ourselves and others?; How can we build safe spaces in youth projects?; How can develop secure relationships that foster wellbeing?

Mental health can be defined as a felt sense of secure connection with self and others. Secure relationships are central to human health and happiness. We want to build emotional bonds, they are the source of resilience. They make us strong. From a place of comfort and safe connection, distress is framed and manageable.

During this TC we will explore ways in which we can better show up for ourselves and others to foster well-being.

Obejctives

The training will be usefull for you if you want to:

  • Deepen understanding of attachment theory and its implications for well-being.
  • Explore the idea of security within ourselves and practice ways of nurturing it.
  • Enhance the capacity to attune to our body senses and to experience being fully present and grounded in the moment expanding our confort zones.
  • Discover tools for fostering secure relationships and safe emotional connections with others.
  • Share tools and practices useful to build safe spaces in youth work.
  • Become familiar with the “circle of security” framework and its applications for promoting emotional well-being among the young people we work with.

Methodologies

During the Training, there will be:

  • Moments and activities to help create a safe space (an environment of trust and inclusion where we feel comfortable sharing)
  • Experiential activities (mindfulness, embodiment, yoga, walks, surfing, craft making)
  • Indoor and nature activities.
  • Theoretical sessions to become familiar with the attachment theory and the circle of security framework.
  • Non-formal education sessions where we will explore and practice tools to build safety and create secure relationships in youth work.
  • Sharing good practices sessions where you will be able to share useful tools and techniques with others.

* The training will focused on well-being and secure connections, but please, note that this is NOT an activity to address participants’ personal mental health-related issues or serve any therapy purpose, instead this is a training course for youth workers in the field.
