My Europe, My Say

Training Course

21-25 March 2023 | Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

How can youth work support active citizenship and participation of young people? Ahead of the EU elections 2024, we would like to explore activities and tools to support youngsters in playing their role in the European project.

This training course will allow youth workers to learn about tools they can use to help foster democracy skills of young people they are working with, while reflecting on future democracy and sharing best practices. There will be a visit to a local initiative or institution. Participants will be asked to join project teams during the training to work on specific tasks or projects. In this way, each element of the training can immediately be applied to the implementation of concrete projects.

Objectives

  • Fostering political participation through peer-to-peer learning and support
  • Exploring tools to foster a variety democracy skills
  • Increasing the understanding of the EU institutions and decision-making processes
  • Preparing the EU elections 2024
  • Engaging for active citizenship on the basis of concrete challenges
  • Exploring possibilities of living democracy in the future
  • Building new partnerships in order to sustain these goals in the future

Target groups

We would like to work with multipliers in youth work. These can be youth workers or people working with youngsters in various educational fields (diversity, citizenship, participation, personal development, social inclusion, intercultural communication, etc.).
We encourage participants to introduce a project idea or a concrete challenge they would like to work (or continue working) on  in the months following the seminar, related to supporting young people in their engagement with Europe & and the development of trust in democracy.

Preparation & Follow-up

Before the Training, participants will be asked to fill out a survey about challenges, topics or project ideas they would like to work on. Info on background & learning interests (skills) will help facilitators take their needs into account.

An online space will be set up on basecamp where materials can be shared before, during and after the seminar. Between 45 days and 3 months after the training, an online follow-up meeting can give participants the chance to share their experiences on how they have been able to apply the training in their projects.
